Mrs. Williams received her Bachelor’s Degree in Physics with a minor in Mathematics from Drew University and spent two summers at other institutions performing research funded by the National Science Foundation.  She then entered the Physics PhD program at SUNY Stony Brook on a full fellowship sponsored by the US Department of Energy. After two years in the program, she earned her Master’s Degree in Experimental Laser and Atomic Physics from SUNY Stony Brook with published research in her field but found her true love for teaching while mentoring high school laser lab research interns at SUNY Stony Brook.  She became NYS permanently certified in both Physics and Mathematics and taught at West Hempstead Public High School on Long Island, where she was granted tenure before moving to this area for her husband’s career as a PhD physicist in 1999.  She previously taught physics at Notre Dame High School from 2011-2017, serving as science department chairperson during the last two years of that time.   Her teaching has been recognized through her selection to Who’s Who Among America’s High School Teachers as well as the WETM Teacher of the Week program.

Mrs. Williams is the proud mother of 2 children, her son, a sophomore Physics major at Cornell, and her daughter, a freshman at CCC pursuing a career as an artist.  She and her daughter are both cancer survivors and proud supporters of various organizations that support those battling childhood cancer.  She and her husband of 27 years enjoy building and collecting physics toys. 

 

Mrs. Williams is returning to Notre Dame part-time this year and thus is usually only in the building during the morning hours.  She can be available for extra help by appointment and will schedule additional extra help near unit tests and large assignments.
