Melissa is a graduate of Elmira College with a B.S. in Education. She holds secondary English certifications in two other states: Maine and Massachusetts. She has worked in education for over 16 years: first, as a substitute teacher; second, as a media center coordinator; third, as a literacy coach; and finally, as an English teacher for grades 7-11. Currently, she teaches 9th and 11th grade English at Notre Dame.

​Melissa's classes use Google Classroom extensively to prepare them for online platforms colleges use. She has an "Office Times" listed in Classroom for all students to view and know when she is available if they need to meet one on one with her.
