Dr. Hazelton received a BS from Penn State University in Animal Biosciences, a MS in Animal Science from the University of Kentucky and a PhD in Animal Science from Purdue University. She also served as a visiting scientist at the USDA, while completing a University of Kentucky post-doctoral fellowship. Her teaching career began at Purdue University, where she served as both a teaching assistant and an instructor for animal physiology courses. She was an adjunct faculty member at Mansfield University for four years, where she taught courses in Microbiology, Human Biology, Cell Biology and Genetics. This is Dr. Hazelton's third year at Notre Dame High School. While at Notre Dame High School, Dr. Hazelton has taught Regents Biology, Accelerated College Experience (ACE) Biology, Honors Environmental Science, Health, Understanding the Bible and Bioethics.  Dr. Hazelton is the Junior Class Moderator and co-coach of the Notre Dame Science Olympiad team. She is also serving as a 2019-2020 Centers for Disease Control Science Ambassador.

Dr. Hazelton and her husband, along with their three children, own and operate a small dairy farm in northern Pennsylvania. She is active in her local parish community, and she recently completed the Certificate of Lay Ministry program through the Diocese of Scranton. In her spare time, Dr. Hazelton likes to crochet, paint, read and spend time with her family.

 

Students are encouraged to come to the Biology Lab for extra help before or after school, Monday through Friday.  Additional meetings times can be scheduled by request.
